Princess Yarn Wigs

My friend's daughter's 4th birthday was coming up so I had to decide what to get her as a gift.  I knew she liked to dress up so I thought a princess wig would be fun.  I saw a pattern on Pinterest and used that to make it.
This is a picture from the pattern, I did not make this one.

Generic Princess Wig

This is the wig I made for my friend's daughter.  I made the cap part the same.  I did two braids from the front center then wrapped them around and connected them together in the back to make a single braid.  I then decided to add two braids down the front sides.  I kept loose strands in the back and embroidered strands across the cap to make it look more like hair.   A great tutorial for embroidering hair here

I made the crown the same except I added white puff stitch  around the bottom.

Snow White Wig

My daughter watched me make the previous wig and asked if I could make her one, then my other daughter wanted one too.  I said ok because I'm always making stuff and they're pretty good about not having to have everything I make.  My 4 year old surprisingly asked for a Snow White Wig.

I made the cap the same as the pattern except for the last round I didn't join the stitches.  Instead I did a sc into the last stitch to make it slope in.  I didn't embroider it like I did the last one because I figured since it was black it wouldn't be noticeable.  I made separate curls that I then sewed around the bottom.  I made 4 narrower curls for the top, 2 on either side.  I made a strip of red for the hair band and then made the bow to sew onto the center.  I might have made the bow a little too big.

Patterns for some of the curls:

Curl (sm)
-ch 13
-sc 13
-ch 1, skip st, (sc 2, skip st) x4, sc
-ch 1, skip st, (sc 2, skip st) x3, sc
-FO

Curl (lg)
-ch 19
-sc 18
-ch 1, skip st, (sc 2, skip st) x5, sc
-ch 1, sc 11
-ch 1, skip st, (sc 2, skip st)x 4, sc

These are my notes I made so I'm not sure how it will be for someone else to follow.  I used these for the curls I did around the bottom, mostly the large ones with some of the small by the front.

I started a Merida wig, princess from Brave, but I ran out of yarn.  I made the cap as is in the pattern then made strands of curls by ch 70 and sc back up(about 69) and then ch 1 and then ch70 for the next strand repeating the process.  Then I sewed the strands around the cap.  Unfortunately I only had enough yarn for the cap and two strands of 25 curls, I used two small skeins of lion brand yarn.  I'll finish it one day.
